Know your bodyguard- MIND

‘Can I do it or not?’, ‘What if something goes wrong?’, ‘What if I am hurt?’, relatable? Well, these are the voices that are going on in your head right now. Voices that are making you take a step back, away from your dreams and goals.
But wait! Whose voices are these? Are these really yours?

These voices are of your mind. As already said in, you are a system and your mind is just a component of that system. It is not you.

Why does it keep saying things that generate a fear in your heart and many times, demotivate you?
Very simple, it is your bodyguard.

The human system was provided with a mind to make it capable of thinking and protecting itself from problems based on the information stored in it. But why does it mostly have negative thoughts?

Your mind imagines the worst possible situations and possibilities every time and warns you from time to time. These warnings should not be confused with actual problems or even intuitions. These are merely the warnings given by your mind. It wants to keep you safe and therefore, always keeps you in a cloud of fear. This tendency of mind also explains why we imagine problems that don’t even exist and then worry about it.

Congratulations! Your mind is very good at its job but unfortunately, this extra caution makes you stagnant. In the name of protection, your negative thoughts hold you as a prisoner. You don’t get to do what you really want to do and are forbidden from living the life of your dreams. You are the master of this system and not the slave of your mind. It is important to think and understand all the perspectives but it is also important to move forward by beating your problems. That is what the game of life is all about. It is just like worrying about a race while standing at the start line and therefore, wasting time while the other contenders are already running. Unless you beat your own problems, you will never win in life.

Think about it. Let me know your views on this.

  1. Sruti, this is an excellent piece. ❤ You have expressed the ideas in a graphic, relatable, and thought-provoking way. You explain so well how the mind works to protect us. 🙂 I had't thought of it in that way before.

As a child, I was taught to ask myself, "What's the worst thing that can happen?" By considering the "worst case scenario," you are able to evaluate risk and decide your course of action. Being too averse to risk results in accomplishing nothing. That is, of course, the worst possible outcome.

    All the best! Cheryl

    1. Ver well said Cheryl, being too averse to risks results in nothing. This can only be tackled with proper evaluation of the situation. I am glad that you liked it. Take care
